Industrial Designer
This position requires the ability to conceptualize and design consumer products, medical and aerospace to light industrial products. The responsibilities will involve solving challenging problems requiring a strong conceptual, sketching and computer design background and a desire to expand your existing design knowledge. This position also requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop innovative and realistic product concepts utilizing the unique Phase Design and Development processes established at Point Innovation. Interfacing with teams, mechanical engineers, vendors and client personnel will be required. This individual will initially be in a team position, but will be groomed for growth within the company. A global customer base assures a dynamic, creative and professional environment.
The incumbent must be able to create appropriate design concepts and follow them through to production, interfacing with the engineering staff and clients. Produce design solutions as an industrial design contributor, establish design process and direction for client projects and lead a team of Industrial Designers and development personnel. Develop of ideas into design solutions based on an understanding of end user requirements is also needed. Collaborate with clients and engineering to assure successful implementation of product design solutions. Follow up with clients, as well as manufacturing and production processes as required.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
* A bachelor's degree from an accredited industrial design program.
* A Masters degree is a plus.
* This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills and some experience in Electronics, Consumer Products, Medical Equipment, Aerospace and Light Industrial Products. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, injection molding, sheet metal, die-casting, fabrication and machining is also preferred.
* Strong 2-D visualization skills are necessary such as Alias Sketchbook, Studio, Illustrator and Photoshop software.
* Ability to develop 3-D databases in Alias, Rhino and / or Pro-E Wildfire, Solid Works is also required.
* A wide level of sensitivity to markets and end users should complement strong core knowledge in design.
